The Banishment

[A. A New Dawn]

A perceptable tension is hovering above Ayreon's home town.
Something is at hand.

[B. The Gathering]

The townspeople gather on the market square
to judge of Ayreon.
Is he a prophet or a charlatan, or even worse:
an apparition most unholy?

[C. The Accusation]

The villagers accuse Ayreon of being the devil's spawn,
but Ayreon persists in his innocence.

[VILLAGERS:]
have you seen his eyes
up in the skies
like hypnotized
and he never smiles
he never cries

have you heard his song
fierce and strong
right or wrong
should he be condemned
for he doesn't belong

[Ayreon:]
what have I done

[VILLAGERS:]
you've aroused the forces of destruction

[Ayreon:]
what have I done

[VILLAGERS:]
you've unleashed the rage of the gods

[Ayreon:]
what have I done

[VILLAGERS:]
you've denounced the wonder of creation

[Ayreon:]
what have I done

[VILLAGERS:]
you've betrayed your own,
now you have to pay

it has been foretold
in days of old
'n evil soul
will corrupt the world
to achieve his goal

he's the devil's seed
an evil breed
he's gonna make you bleed
he'll take all he needs
with uncontrollable greed

[Ayreon:]
I've done nothing at all,
no nothing at all

[D. The banishment]

With sticks and torches in hand,
the angry villagers drive Ayreon
out of their demesne.

[E. Oblivion]

Completely exhausted
Ayreon roams through the forest,
only an indistinct sense of accomplishment sustains him.

[Ayreon:]
If I have died, then this must be hell
if I'm alive, I cannot break this gruesome spell
I am seeking relief and finding none
I have fallen into oblivion

A force within dominates my tormented soul
and empowers me to regain absolute control
I shall not yield, for I am the chosen one
who shall rise from oblivion

[A. Una Nuova Alba] (solo strumentale)

Un palpabile nervosismo sta avvolgendo il villaggio di Ayreon.
Qualcosa sta per accadere.

[B. Il Raduno] (solo strumentale)

Gli abitatanti del villaggio si riuniscono
nella piazza del mercato per giudicare Ayreon
É un profeta, un ciarlatano o, peggio:
una presenza demoniaca?

[C. L'accusa]

Gli abitanti del villaggio accusano Ayreon di essere generato dal Demonio
ma Ayreon continua a dichiararsi innocente

[VILLAGERS:]
Hai visto i suoi occhi
fissi al cielo
come ipnotizzato
e non ride mai
non piange mai

Hai sentito la sua canzone
potente e crudele
giusta o sbagliata
dobbiamo condannarlo
perchè non appartiene [alla razza umana]

[Ayreon:]
Cosa ho fatto

[VILLAGERS:]
Hai generato le forze della distruzione

[Ayreon:]
Cosa ho fatto

[VILLAGERS:]
Hai scatenato la collera degli dei

[Ayreon:]
Cosa ho fatto

[VILLAGERS:]
Hai denunciato la meraviglia della Creazione

[Ayreon:]
Cosa ho fatto

[VILLAGERS:]
Hai tradito te stesso
Ora devi pagare

Era stato predetto
un tempo in cui
un'anima malvagia
avrebbe corrotto il Mondo
per raggiungere il suo obiettivo

Lui è il seme del Demonio
una razza malvagia
ti farà sanguinare
prenderà tutto ciò che gli serve
con incontrollabile avarizia

[Ayreon:]
Non ho fatto niente
no, niente

[D. Il Bando] (solo strumentale)

Impugnando bastoni e torce
i furiosi abitanti del villaggio accompagnano Ayreon
fuori dai confini del paese

[E. Oblio]

Completamente esausto,
Ayreon vaga per la foresta,
solo un indefinito senso di completezza lo sostiene

[Ayreon:]
Se fossi morto, allora questo dovrebbe essere l'inferno
se fossi vivo, allora non riuscirei a rompere questo orrendo incantesimo
cerco sollievo ma non ne trovo alcuno
sono precipatato nell'oblio.

Una forza dall'interno domina la mia anima tormentata
e mi dà la forza per riprendere il controllo assoluto
Non mi arrenderò, poichè sono il prescelto
che risorgerà dall'oblio
